He went on to say that due to the RTI Act 2013 public bodies will improve their services and there will be a sort of exactness and tidiness in implementation of rules and regulations by respective government institutions.
Mr. Abdul Matin, Commissioner KP RTI Commission acquainted the participants of the workshop with legal aspects of KP RTI Act, 2013. Attracting the attention of PIOs on the occasion, he informed them that under the law they will have to furnish information to the requester within 10-days of the request which in a given situation can be extended for 10 more days, total 20-days, provided the information collection process is complicated and needs to be arranged from various locations. He said that any lapse or deliberate non-compliance with the law can results in certain penalty imposition on the officers concerned.
A question and answer session was also held in the workshop wherein KP Chief Commissioner RTI Commission and the two Commissioners RTI Commission replied to questions of the participants highlighting related to the various aspects of the law and regarding its implementation.
Earlier Mr. Atif yousafzai, Communication Specialist, GSP-PCNA welcomed the participants and highlighted the importance of the workshop.
